KodyGas Boiler Repair

Repair or replace your boiler?

Most callouts start as a repair. Some end as a replacement. The difference should come from the appliance in front of you, not from a sales script. Here is how we decide on jobs across Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley.

Start with diagnosis

A fault code, no heat or no hot water does not automatically mean a new boiler. Low pressure after a bleed, a stuck diverter valve, a failed pump, ignition faults and PCB failures are everyday boiler repairs. Common parts stay on the van, so a lot of these finish in one visit.

We test system pressure (typically 1.0 to 1.5 bar cold on a combi), gas working pressure at the appliance, and run a flue gas analysis. When the fault is sludge or inhibitor that was never checked, the boiler itself may be fine and a power flush or a service is the better spend.

When repair still makes sense

Parts are still available, the heat exchanger is sound, and the repair cost is clearly below the value left in the appliance. A boiler that has been maintained to BS 7593 with inhibitor and an in-line filter often has more life left than one that has never been dosed.

If you are mid-warranty and the manufacturer still supports the model, a proper repair recorded in the paperwork usually beats jumping to a swap.

When replacement is the better call

Repairs keep stacking up, parts are obsolete, or the appliance sits well below the 92% ErP efficiency that Building Regulations Part L requires for a new install. An oversized or undersized unit that short-cycles will keep costing money even after another repair.

A boiler installation includes supply and fit, old unit removal, commissioning, Benchmark completion and Building Regulations notification. We will say so when the current boiler still has life in it.

What we will not do

We will not invent a job count for your street, or push a replacement because it is a quieter quote to write. After diagnosis you get the fault explained and a clear price for the repair, or fixed options for a swap. You decide.

FAQs

Age alone is a poor guide. Availability of parts, the condition of the heat exchanger and whether the next repair would cost more than the remaining life of the appliance matter more. We tell you after looking at it.
