If the boiler has stopped, start with repair rather than replacement. Plenty of faults that look terminal are a frozen condensate pipe, a failed expansion vessel or a system that has never been cleaned. We diagnose first and tell you honestly when an appliance is genuinely past economical repair.
If the heating is warm but the radiators are not, the answer is more often balancing or a power flush than a new boiler. Cold at the top of a radiator is air and needs bleeding; cold at the bottom is sludge. We test the system water rather than guessing, because a flush is not cheap and it is not always the answer.
If you are replacing a boiler, Building Regulations Part L sets what the installation has to meet: at least 92% ErP efficiency, thermostatic radiator valves on every radiator except the room holding the main thermostat, an in-line system filter, and a heat loss calculation so the boiler is not oversized. The system is cleaned and inhibited to BS 7593 before commissioning, and we notify the work so you receive your compliance certificate.
If you let the property, a landlord gas safety check is required every 12 months under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, with no grace period. The tenant needs a copy within 28 days and you must keep records for two years.

Start with boiler repair. We diagnose the fault before quoting any parts, and a good share of breakdowns finish on the first visit because common parts are on the van. If it is a no heating or no hot water situation right now, emergency boiler repair is the 24/7 route. If the appliance turns out to be beyond economical repair we will tell you plainly rather than defaulting to a replacement quote.
A service is preventative maintenance on the appliance and is what manufacturers require, recorded in the Benchmark checklist, for a guarantee to stay valid. A landlord gas safety check confirms every gas appliance and flue in the property is safe on the day, and is a legal requirement every 12 months under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. One does not include the other, though many landlords sensibly book both together.
You get told the cost before we set off, whatever the job. There is no zone surcharge for being further out in our coverage area, and no charge that appears afterwards which you were not told about first.
We are Gas Safe registered, registration 625280. Gas, unvented hot water and commercial gas are separate qualifications, and an engineer's Gas Safe ID card lists exactly which categories they hold. Ask to see it and check the number on the register before any work starts. We would rather you checked than took our word for it.

Yes. Commercial gas is a separate set of qualifications from domestic work, covering things like commercial heating, catering appliances and larger pipework. If a job falls outside what we hold we will say so rather than taking it on.
